Turkish border guards injure 2, arrest 15 Syrians in northern Hasakah

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish border guards shot at and injured two Syrians and arrested 15 others while attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border from the town of Mabrouka, northern Hasakah, northeastern Syria.

In September, 64 Syrians were injured, including seven women and three children, by Turkish border guards while attempting to cross the border into Turkey, according to the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press.

A source in the Turkish-backed Military Police faction, affiliated with the Syrian National Army (SNA), told North Press, “The Turkish border guards opened fire on a group of Syrians while trying to cross the Syrian-Turkish border from the Syrian town of Mabrouka, west of the city of Sere Kaniye [Ras al-Ain], resulting in the injury of a woman, a man, and the arrest of 15 others.”

On October 15, a 12-year-old girl and a man were injured in a similar incident near the town of Harem, west of Idlib, northwestern Syria.

The source added that Turkish border guards took the injured and detainees to their detention centers for investigation, to later hand them over to SNA factions through the crossings of Tel Abyad or Ras al-Ain in northern Syria.
