Turkey deports over 420 refugees to north Syria
TEL ABYAD, IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkey forcibly deported, on Monday, over 420 Syrian refugees, including women and children, to north Syria through Tel Abyad and Bab al-Hawa border crossings with Turkey.
The Turkish authorities deported more than 420 Syrian refugees, including women and children, through Tel Abyad and Bab al-Hawa crossings, and handed them over to the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), sources within the crossings informed North Press.
The Turkish authorities handed over 135 refugees to the SNA at Tel Abyad crossing, and they were transferred to accommodation centers for investigation, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, approximately 285 refugees including women and children were handed over to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) via Bab al-Hawa crossing, the sources added.
The sources clarified that the deportation process took place after the Turkish authorities got all personal documentations of the deportees, taking their fingerprints and iris scans, to ensure they will not return to Turkish territory.
