Turkish authorities deport 92 Syrians to northern Syria

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities deported on Sunday 92 Syrians to northern Syria, through the Tel Abyad border crossing, which is controlled by factions of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).

In the beginning of July, Turkish authorities has launched a deportation campaign against Turkey-based Syrian refugees, deporting over 18,000 people until October 1.

An administrative crossing in Tel Abyad border crossing told North Press that Turkish authorities deported on Sunday night 92 Syrian refugees, including 30 women, via the crossing to the countryside of Raqqa.

On Oct. 14-15, Turkish authorities deported 850 Syrian refugees through Bab al-Salama, Tel Abyad, and Bab al-Hawa border crossings in northern Syria.

The source added that Turkey continues to deport Syrian refugees residing on its territory to opposition-controlled areas in northern Syria, amid growing anti-refugee sentiment among Turkish people.

Though Syria is still unsafe for returns, Turkey tries to get rid of refugees by forcibly deporting them. The Turkish authorities have intensified the forced deportation of Syrians as part of what they call voluntary return to safe areas in northern Syria.
