Turkey’s border guards arrest 20 Syrian in Sere Kaniye

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) The Turkish border guards arrested on Friday 20 people and injured three others while trying to cross the border to Turkey in the countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeastern Syria.

A military source of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) told North Press that the border guards arrested 20 people and injured three others while trying to go back to Syria from Turkey for fear of arrest within the Turkish territory.

After spending years there fleeing war in their homeland, the Syrians have recently started to move back from Turkey to their country following the rising tide of racism against the Syrians by the Turks.

Those arrested were beaten by the border guards when transferring them to the detention center. The injured were transferred to the National Hospital of the city of Sere Kaniye.

Sere Kaniye, along with Tel Abyad, have been under the Turkish occupation since 2019 following the so-called “Peace Spring” military operation by the Turkish forces and the SNA factions.
