War remnants kill child, wound another in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, a child was killed and another was wounded as a result of the explosion of a remnant of war in Daraa Governorate in southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that Omar Muhammad al-Omeri was killed and his brother Ammar was wounded due to the explosion of a war remnant in the outskirts of the town of Nassib, east of Daraa.
The children are from Rif Dimashq Governorate. Their family came to Daraa and resided in several years ago, according to the source.
The remnants of war have killed dozens of civilians, most of them children, with the government not doing anything to address the situation.
Since the beginning of 2023, 15 people were killed in Daraa as a result of the explosion of war remnants. In its semi-annual report, the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press documented the killing and injury of 543 individuals, 70 percent of whom were civilians. Of those, 288 were killed and 255 were injured.
