Turkish armored vehicle runs over, kills young man in Syria’s Tel Abyad
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – A Turkish armored vehicle ran over a young man on Tuesday in the south of Tel Abyad in northern Raqqa, northern Syria, under the control of Turkish-backed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).
A local source told North Press that a Turkish armored vehicle, while crossing the village of Kafifa in southern Tel Abyad, ran over Fayez Ali al-Hajo, instantly killing him.
The vehicle did not stop to take the young man to the hospital. The incident sparked public anger in the region due to the recklessness displayed towards civilian lives, according to the source.
On October 9, 2019, Turkey launched an invasion against the cities of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad. It resulted in the Turkish occupation of the region and the displacement of over 300.000 of the region’s original inhabitants.
The source reported that the SNA’s Civil Police refused to record the actual cause of death and instead labeled it as a “traffic accident.”
