Young man killed in landmine blast in eastern Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A young man lost his life on Saturday in an explosion of a landmine in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
Saleh al-Obeian, a resident of al-Dweir town, which is under the control of Syrian government forces, said that Dawood Selman al-Tuheir, 25, lost his life in a landmine explosion while he was grazing sheep on the outskirts of the town.
Al-Obeian added to North Press that the landmine was speculated to have been left behind by the Islamic State (ISIS). “This is the third such incident in the same location since the beginning of the year.”
“Al-Tuheir is from the town of al-Meri’iyaeh, in eastern Deir ez-Zor, and resided with his family in al-Dweir, where he worked as a shepherd,” al-Obeian said.
On June 8, a child lost both his arms in a landmine explosion in al-Dweir town.
