Four people injured by Turkish border guards in western Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, four people, including a woman, were shot at and wounded by Turkish border guards while trying to cross the border into Turkey from west of Idlib, northwest Syria. They were later transferred to hospitals in the area.

A local source told North Press that “Turkish border guards, stationed in the observation tower against the village of Azmarin, fired at IDPs as they approached the border wall, injuring four people, including a woman.”

After locals spent an hour pulling them to a safe zone, the injured were transferred to the Salqin Hospital in western Idlib. The injured woman suffered a serious knee injury, while the condition of the other three is still being monitored.

People who attempt to cross the Syrian-Turkish border illegally are directly targeted by the border guards, which often results in their death or injury. In some cases, they are subjected to brutal beatings and torture, which also often leads to the death of the majority of those affected.
