Turkish border guards shoot 3 civilians, arrest another in Syria’s Idlib
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Three Syrian civilians were injured and another was arrested on Tuesday by Turkish border guards while trying to crosse Syrian-Turkish border into Turkey in the village of Azmarin, in the western countryside of Idlib Governorate, northern Syria.
A security source from Azmarin said that the residents of the area were informed that there are three young men were shot by the Turkish border guards near the border, so that, a security patrol went to the site and transported the young men to the hospital of the city of Harem, west of Idlib.
The Turkish border guards arrested a fourth person who may be killed under torture, according to the source, citing one of the injured people.
A medical source of the hospital said that recently the border guards have increased their aggressions against the civilians, as this is the third case of its kind since March.
Most of those who want to access Turkey resort to illegal and dangerous smuggling routes in light of unavailable safe ones to either reunite with their families or secure jobs to provide for their families amid the dire economic conditions the country is witnessing.
