Camp official in Syria’s Afrin forces women to be filmed while getting bread
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – An official of an IDP camp in the city of Afrin, northwestern Syria, forced the earthquake-affected women on Saturday to be filmed and interviewed while obtaining bread bundles.
An exclusive source told North Press that the so-called Abu Alaa Sha’er who is in charge of the IDP camp at the al-Mazot Street in the city of Afrin, forced the women inside the camp to be filmed while they get bread for free.
The camp was set up following the Feb. 6 devastating earthquake that hit both Syria and Turkey and killed more than 50,000 people and injured thousands more in addition to the collapse of thousands of building and houses.
The formerly Kurdish-majority region of Afrin has been under the Turkish occupation since March 2018 following the so-called “Olive Branch” military operation launched by the Turkish forces and the armed opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), to push away the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) under the pretext of protecting “Turkish national security.”
The source added that Sha’er refused to give bread to those who did not want to be filmed.
Members of Jaysh al-Sharqiyah (al-Sharqiyah Army), a faction of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), seized humanitarian aid sent from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) to people of disaster-stricken Jindires, in Afrin, northwest Syria.
Also, a commander within Ahrar al-Sharqiya, a Turkish-backed faction within the SNA, stole humanitarian aid meant for earthquake victims in Jindires by using fake names.
