Half by UAE, 256 aid planes landed in Syria after quake
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Syrian government said that up to date 256 planes carrying humanitarian and relief aid had landed in the Syrian airports of Damascus, Aleppo, and Latakia, half of which (127 planes) sent by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
State-run SANA news agency quoted Director General of Civil Aviation in Syria Basem Mansour as saying, “The total aid varied between relief supplies, foodstuffs, first aid and medical supplies, hospital equipment and ambulances.”
“The total amount of aid that arrived via these planes amounted to 7.200 tons,” Mansour told SANA noting that 127 planes came from UAE.
Mansour said new permissions were granted to UAE planes covering the period extending from March 1 to March 7.
