Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia visits Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Head of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, Aram I, visited on Thursday the city of Aleppo in northern Syria to offer his condolences to the victims of the Feb. 6 earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey.
His visit came following the earthquake that hit the country on Feb. 6 which caused hundreds of victims and destruction of dozens of buildings.
Catholicos Aram I arrived at Virgin Mary Church at al-Vilat neighborhood on Aleppo and offered prayers for the victims of the earthquake. He offered his condolences for the victims.
He stated to local media outlets that he was most pleased to be in Syria, the country that received the Armenian people following the Armenian Genocide in 1915-1916 and to share bread and water with it.
“The Armenian people all over the world will not forget the love and sympathy shown by the Syrian people for the Armenians,” he added.
“While I am visiting Syria, I am very sad and brokenhearted for the losses caused by the earthquake.”
Then, the Catholicos Aram I met with the Relief Committee of the Armenian Community and shared with them views on helping the earthquake-affected people and the survivors.
