Russia reveals  number of intercepted Israeli missiles in Syria’s Masyaf

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria at the Khmeimim Air Base announced on Friday that Syrian air defenses shot down two missiles and seven Israeli guided bombs during the recent Israeli attack on the city of Masyaf, in the western countryside of Hama.

Russian News Agency Tass cited Oleg Yegorov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Khmeimim, as saying, “Four Israeli Air Force F-16 tactical fighter jets fired four cruise missiles and 16 guided aerial bombs toward targets at the Scientific Studies and Research Center in Masyaf from 7:16 pm to 7:30 pm on August 25 from the eastern Mediterranean.”

Yegorov added, “The on-duty air defense forces of the Armed Forces of the SAR destroyed two missiles and seven guided aerial bombs using the Russian-made Pantsir-S1 and S-75 systems.”

He went further saying that the Israeli attack caused damage to warehouses of the Scientific Studies and Research Center.

On August 25, several sites in the western countryside of Hama were subjected to Israeli airstrikes against military posts, likely affiliated with the Iranian-backed militias.

State-run news agency SANA said that the Syrian forces’ air defenses succeeded in repelling “hostile targets over Masyaf.”

On August 14, three soldiers of the Syrian government were killed and three others were wounded in Israeli airstrikes that targeted military posts of the government forces in Tartus and Rif-Dimashq Governorates.
