200 families to leave camp in Syria’s Derik

DERIK, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Relations Office of Newroz Camp in Syria’s northeast city of Derik city, said that 200 families will be deported from the camp.

They started counting numbers of the families in the camp that will leave non-IDPs families according a decision by a committee from Tel-Tamr, Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Jabal Abdulaziz area in the west countryside of Hasakah, the Camp Relations Officer Nadim Omar told North Press.

On Thursday, the camp’s management departed 27 families who had come from Jabal Abdulaziz.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) designated two centers in Hasakah and Derbasiyah to receive the people who fled the recent Turkish shelling against Tel-Tamr and Zargan, Omar said.

115 families, fleeing the Turkish shelling, arrived at Newroz Camp. After checking their documents, it was found out that 33 of them were real displaced people whose areas were attacked.  The other families came from “safe areas”.

During the checking process, the committee found out that more than 200 families who are residing in the camp are from Jabal Abdulaziz, according to Omar.

“We will replace those who will be returned to their safe areas with the families fled the Turkish shelling,” Omar said.

It is scheduled that the rest families will be departed through batches according to the camp’s management. Each batch will include ten or fifteen families depending on the means of transportation available.

It is worth mentioning that 959 families, total of 4,971 individuals, are currently living in the camp.
