SDF thwarts opposition factions’ infiltration in Syria’s north

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Monday they repelled an infiltration attempt by the Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions in the countryside of Ain Issa town, north of Raqqa, northern Syria.

“Our forces managed to repel an attack by the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation on the village of Skairo in the eastern countryside of Ain Issa, and killed a number of them,” SDF said on its official website.

In a similar incident, an attack by the Turkish forces and opposition factions was thwarted by the SDF in the north of Ain Issa on November 26.

“The Turkish occupation mercenaries tried to infiltrate and enter the village of Skairo, at seven o’clock this evening, Monday, but our forces confronted them and killed and a number of them, while the rest fled to their back lines,” according to SDF.

“After the infiltration attempt failed, the mercenaries targeted the village with heavy weapons, in preparation for the removal of the bodies of their dead,” SDF added.

Since Turkey and its affiliated factions took control of the areas of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in 2019, areas in the northern countryside of Raqqa and north of Hasakah have been subjected to repeated Turkish bombardment.
