Russian-Turkish joint patrol canceled in Syria’s Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Russian Military Police (MP) canceled a military joint patrol with the Turks that was scheduled to be conducted on Monday in the western countryside of Kobani, north Syria.

The patrol was canceled as a resulted of raising public anger in Kobani due to targeting civilians by Turkish drones in the city and the Russia’s failure to adhere to its obligations in preserving and protecting the region.

On October 21, Russian military armored vehicles were subjected to stone-throwing by residents of Kobani in front of a hospital, where the bodies of those who lost their lives due to the Turkish drone’s attack were placed.

The stone-throwing came after the Russian MP refused to see the site of the targeting or to enter to the hospital in order to see the civilian’s bodies.

On October 20, a Turkish drone attacked a car in Kobani city, northern Syria, killing two civilians and wounding four others.

On October 23, another Turkish drone targeted a car in the same city, killing three SDF fighters who were heading to Kobani for treatment.

“On Saturday morning, October 23, three of our fighters head from Sirrin town to the city of Kobani for treatment. When they were on the way back, they were attacked by a Turkish drone,” the SDF said in statement.

On October 18, the Russian MP conducted the 76th joint patrol with the Turkish part in the eastern countryside of Kobani.
