Turkish forces deploy on M4 Highway in northwest Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday evening, Turkish forces intensively deployed on the M4 Highway, south of the city of Idlib, northwestern Syria, amid intense flight of Turkish and Russian drones over the area.
Dozens of members of the Turkish forces, stationed in the Turkish bases surrounding the region of Ariha and the town of Mehambel, were deployed on the M4 Highway, military sources of the opposition factions told North Press.
The intensive deployment of the Turkish forces, which coincided with cutting off many roads in the area between the region of Ariha and the town of Mehambel, was accompanied by an intense flight of Turkish and Russian drones over the same area, the sources added.
The same sources indicated that the reasons behind this deployment are still unknown, but they expected that it would be a combing of the Aleppo-Latakia highway (M4 Highway), after frequent targeting of Turkish convoys in the last period.
The Turkish forces are deployed in more than 45 military points in the regions of Zawiya Mountain and Ariha, south of the city of Idlib, which are adjacent to the areas controlled by the government forces, south and east of Idlib.
The Turkish forces’ patrols in Idlib were targeted several times by unknown groups, the last of which was near the city of Bennesh, east of Idlib early in September, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of soldiers.
