Israeli forces target Beit Jinn area in Damascus countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces shelled pn Friday the area between Beit Jinn and the Red Hills in western Damascus countryside, with no reported injuries, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.
SANA said the shelling targeted Tal Bat al-Warda near Beit Jinn, adding that the two shells landed in agricultural land and caused no reported injuries.
The shelling comes days after Israeli forces shelled the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa countryside on Aug. 18, firing an artillery shell toward the valley west of Abdeen, with no reported injuries or material damage.
The Syrian government accuses Israel of continuing to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through incursions into parts of southern Syria, raids and arrests, land leveling and artillery shelling, among other military activities.
Damascus has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syrian territory, saying Israeli measures in areas under its control are illegal and have no legal effect under international law. It has also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and pressure Israel to fully withdraw from southern Syria.
