Russia targets opposition sites in Syria’s Zawiya Mountain
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Russian warplanes bombed posts of Turkish-backed armed Syrian factions within the de-escalation zone, and the government forces bombed villages and towns in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, northwest Syria.
The Russian warplanes targeted the village of Tedin in the Jisr al-Shughur area in the western countryside of Idlib with several airstrikes, military sources from the opposition told North Press.
The Syrian government forces intensified their artillery and missile shelling on the villages and towns of the Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, after one of their members was killed in Kansafra town, the sources added.
Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room killed three members of the government forces and wound others near the village of Ma’arat Mukhas, which is near Kansafra, south of Idlib, followed by violent clashes between both sides, the sources indicated.
North Press was unable to contact independent sources confirming the accuracy of this information.
The clashes coincided with intense artillery and missile bombardment by the government forces on the towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Aweed, Sufuhun, the outskirts of al-Bara and Kansafra and its outskirts, where more than 40 artillery and missile shells targeted the town of Kansafra alone, according to the same sources.
The bombardment affected agricultural lands and caused material damage to public and private properties, while no accurate information was received indicating the extent of material or human losses, according to sources in the Syrian Civil Defense.
In Aleppo, government forces renewed their artillery shelling this morning on the outskirts of the town of Tadel from their positions in the surrounding checkpoints, west of Idlib, after the area witnessed relative calm for a while.
