Shelling continues in Syria’s Idlib countryside

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday afternoon, Government forces renewed bombing the fortifications of the opposition factions near the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kansafra and Sufuhn, south of Idlib, and the village of Kafr Nuran, located in the western countryside of Aleppo, with artillery shells and rocket launchers, military sources in the opposition factions told North Press.

The bombing resulted in widespread destruction of public and private property, while no casualties were reported, the source added.

The bombing coincided with intense flight of warplanes and reconnaissance planes over Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, without recording any air strike, according to the same sources.

Earlier on Saturday, the Syrian government bombed with artillery shells and rocket launchers the fortifications of the opposition factions near the villages and towns of al-Bara, Deir Sunbul and Ma’arat Al-Na’asan, in the southern and northern Idlib countryside.

In turn, Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) and Jaysh al-Izza (Army of Glory) along with the National Front for Liberation, said that it targeted military gatherings of government forces near Saraqeb city in the eastern Idlib countryside with mortars and heavy artillery.

The region is witnessing a military escalation despite the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement signed between the Russian and Turkish sides in March of last year 2020.
