Russian warplanes target outskirts of Turkish post in Syria’s south Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Russian warplanes carried out airstrikes against Turkish-backed armed factions’ posts in the southern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.
Russian warplanes targeted the vicinity of a Turkish post in the town of al-Bara, south Idlib countryside, with vacuum missiles and six airstrikes, military sources from the factions told North Press.
Russian airstrikes coincided with intensive shelling by Syrian government forces against the factions’ posts in the southern countryside of Idlib and the western countryside of Hama, reporting no casualties so far, the sources added.
As well as, the government forces renewed their shelling against the factions’ fortifications in the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Fleifel, al-Bara, Kansafra, Binin in Zawiya Mountain.
On Thursday, seven civilian lost their lives as a result of artillery and missile shelling by the Syrian government on the town of Ablin, south Idlib.
For months, areas in the countryside of Idlib have been witnessing an escalation between the government forces and Turkish-backed armed factions despite the ongoing two-year-old ceasefire signed between Russia and Turkey since March of 2020.
