Asayish arrest ISIS member in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) arrested a member of an ISIS cell during a security operation carried out in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

Ferhad Shami, head of the media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces, tweeted that the special units of Asayish had arrested a member of an ISIS cell near the Salhiya area in Deir ez-Zor.

Shami pointed out that the operation, which he described as successful, took place with the support of air surveillance from the international coalition forces, noting that the arrested cell was active in targeting security checkpoints and planning assassinations operations.

Recently, ISIS has intensified its military operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, targeting members of the SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, tribal notables, and locals.

Shami attached a picture showing a machine gun, ammunition, and mobile phones, in addition to other equipment that was in the possession of the arrested ISIS members.

On Thursday, ISIS claimed responsibility for the killing of a civilian in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, after kidnapping him upon charges of dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
