Syrian government shelling leaves casualties in northwest Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A woman was killed and others were wounded on Tuesday as a result of artillery shelling carried out by the Syrian government forces on opposition factions’ sites in the southern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.
The government forces bombed with artillery shells the fortifications of the opposition factions in the towns of Benin and Mantef, south of Idlib, military sources in the opposition told North Press.
“The bombing resulted in the killing of a woman in the town of Mantef, and the injury of two girls, who were taken to medical points for treatment,” sources added.
The faction’s positions in the towns of Tel Wasit, al-Ziyara, Khirbet al-Naqous, al-Enkawi and the western countryside of Hama were also hit by mortar shelling by the government forces stationed in Jurin Camp, according to the same sources.
The bombing coincided with intense flight of Russian reconnaissance planes and warplanes over Idlib and the countryside of Hama, Aleppo and Latakia, without recording any air strikes.
In return, Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Jaysh al-Izza (the Army of Glory), along with the National Front for Liberation, which is affiliated with the Syrian National Army, bombed military gatherings of the government forces in Jurin Camp, west of Hama.
The military escalation comes within the de-escalation zone between the Syrian government forces and the pro-Turkey opposition factions, despite the entry into force of the ceasefire agreement, which has entered its second year.
