Syria’s Kobani University initiative to document Turkish violations
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Kobani University students launched a new initiative entitled “The Future Speaks,” calling for participation in documenting Turkish violations against the Kurds.
The initiative came in a statement to the public which was read by a student in front of the university building in the new Kobani neighborhood.
The release of the statement coincided with the start of the final exams for the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021.
According to the statement, the initiative aims to have students “take a leading role in the fight against fascism, religious discrimination, discrimination on the basis of sex, nationalism and all forms of power.”
Sultana Atto, a student at the Faculty of Arts at Kobani University, told North Press that the statement read on behalf of university students was about the “The Future Speaks” initiative, which included an explanation of the practices of the Turkish authorities in the Kurdish areas.
On behalf of the students of Kobani University and the youth of the region, Atto appealed to “all patriots to achieve their demand and participate in their initiative, so that the Kurdish people know the nature of the attacks and violations committed against them, and the events taking place in the Kurdish regions.”
She called for all young people and patriots to join the “Future Speaks” initiative in order for “the Kurdish people to know their real enemy, and to take better steps in the future.”
Atto pointed out that the initiative also aims at introducing “the nature of the Turkish attacks that continue to this day on the Kurdish people, and how Turkey deceives the Kurds in the region.”
