Government forces renew shelling on Syria’s Zawiya Mountain
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Damascus government forces shelled posts of Turkish-backed armed groups in the towns of Sufuhun, al-Fatira and the outskirts of Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain, south Idlib, northwest Syria, with heavy artillery shells and missiles, leaving a civilian casualty.
The shelling coincided with intensive flight by Russian warplanes over Idlib, Hama countryside, Aleppo, and Latakia reporting no airstrikes, local military sources from the armed groups said.
Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) and other Turkish-backed groups, targeted Kafr Nubul and Kafr Mous, south Idlib, with artillery.
Sources state that Ahmed Masoud Daqmaq succumbed to his injuries as a result of wounds sustained in Thursday’s artillery and missile shelling on Ablin town, where about 11 civilian and military individuals also died.
