Pro-Iranian militia rebuilds after Israeli shelling in Syria’s Palmyra

PALMYRA, Syria (North Press) –  On Wednesday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun militia began removing the rubble and renovating three of its headquarters in the vicinity of the town of al-Amiriya in the desert of the eastern Homs countryside after it was subjected to Israeli bombardment after midnight yesterday.

On Tuesday night, Israeli warplanes bombarded military targets in the central and southern region of Syria.

The official government agency SANA cited a Syrian military source as saying that Israel bombarded some targets in the central and southern region.

The Israeli planes targeted three military sites of the militia in the southern countryside of the town, including a training camp, dormitories for the members, and a military point.

Hussein al-Haytham, a vehicle driver in the municipality of Palmyra, said that eight vehicles were sent to work to remove the rubble at the request of the commanders of Liwa Fatemiyoun in Palmyra, with the aim of accelerating the process of renovating the headquarters.

He pointed out that the drivers of the vehicles went out against their will, amid fears of a re-run of the bombing while they were working.

The areas of the Syrian Desert under the control of government forces where Iranian-backed factions are deployed witnessed intense and continuous flight of unidentified reconnaissance planes from yesterday evening until this morning.
