Syria’s Autonomous Administration repatriates ISIS children, woman to Netherlands
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) repatriated three children and a woman from Islamic State (ISIS) families to the Dutch government during a visit of a high-ranking Dutch delegation to the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.
The co-chair of the AANES Foreign Relations Department, Abdulkarim Omar, and officials of the department received the delegation.
The Dutch delegation was headed by Special Envoy to Syria Emiel de Bont.
De Bont and Omar signed an official protocol to surrender women and children of ISIS families to the Dutch delegation during a press conference in Qamishli.
Since the elimination of ISIS in March of 2019, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been calling for the repatriation of thousands of ISIS women and children in the camps of northeast Syria.
In late April, AANES repatriated 92 women and children of ISIS families to an official delegation of the Uzbek government in the city of Qamishli.
In a report released in February, the UN spoke of “cases of extremism, training, and fund-raising in Hawl Camp as well as indoctrination of minors to become future fighters of ISIS.”
