SDF imposes curfew to pursue ISIS cells in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) imposed a curfew in several towns in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, as part of the operation to pursue ISIS sleeper cells.
The SDF imposed a curfew in the towns of al-Busayrah, al-Shuhail, al-Hawayij, al-Zer, east of Deir ez-Zor, in search of wanted ISIS militants, a military source from the area said.
The operation came as a result of the assassination of five SDF members, including the arming official in al-Busayrah Brigade of the SDF, in an armed ambush carried out by unidentified individuals in al-Shuhail town, yesterday, the source added.
Earlier today, ISIS claimed responsibility for exploding a school in the town of al-Busayrah, east of Deir ez-Zor.
Recently, ISIS has intensified its attacks and operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor despite the security campaigns imposed by the SDF.
On May 18, unidentified gunmen burned the local council building belonging to the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, in the town of al-Susah, 120 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
