Government officer killed in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, local sources in Daraa, south Syria, reported that an officer of the Syrian government forces was killed at the bridge of the city of Izra’, in the northeastern countryside of Daraa, in an incident, the first of its kind within a heavily guarded area.
Izra’ is considered a difficult security zone, as it contains many military units, detachments for the security apparatus and police, and is located on the highway between Daraa and Damascus.
The sources added that the killed was Ali Ahmad Kizawi, who was a lieutenant.
During the ten years of the war in Syria, Izra’ region has not been outside the control of the Syrian government forces, and there are no former members of the opposition groups in it.
The body of the lieutenant, who came from Hama governorate, was found, and effects of direct firing was shown on his body, which led to his death on the spot, according to the source.
So far, no party has claimed responsibility for the operation, amid government secrecy on the incident.
On April 30, unidentified persons targeted the leader of one of the government-backed armed groups, accused of collaborating with Hezbollah, in the town of Sayda in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
