Asayish arrest ISIS militants in Syria’s AANES areas
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the security forces of the Autonomous administration of North and East Syria (AANES) with the US-led Global Coalition, arrested four people affiliated with ISIS, in Deir ez-Zor and Tel Tamr.
A military source said that Special Units of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) had arrested a member of ISIS sleeper cell, in the village of Ub al-Tina in the countryside of Tel Tamr.
The mission of the arrested was “facilitating the work and move of ISIS sleeper cells, according to the source.
The SDF had arrested a former leader of ISIS, hiding in an abandoned house, in al-Mutalwyin neighborhood in al-Baghouz, a local source said.
The SDF also arrested two wanted men in al-Sheikh Hamad neighborhood of al-Baghouz, suspected of belonging to the extremist organization, after raiding neighborhoods in the town, according to the source.
The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor is witnessing the increase in assassinations targeting members of the SDF, civil administration employees and tribal notables.
On April 28, an ISIS member was killed and three others were arrested in a security operation carried out by SDF in the town of Thiban, east of Deir ez-Zor.
