Syrian government officer killed, another wounded by unknown individuals in Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Syrian Army Lieutenant Hayel al-Arbeed was killed, and another one accompanying him was seriously wounded and subsequently transferred to the hospital after they were targeted on the road between the towns of al-Sahwa and al-Musayfirah in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

Local sources from the eastern countryside of Daraa said that unidentified persons targeted two members of the government forces belonging to the Air Force Intelligence, and shot them directly.

“Government forces” members are often targeted in this area; the road connecting the towns of al-Sahwa and al-Musayfirah, which is an uninhabited agricultural road,” the sources added.

Since 2018, after the government forces took over Daraa, they set up a checkpoint on that road.

By the end of 2020, members of the government forces responsible for the checkpoint were found beheaded inside their sentry posts, which sparked terror that ISIS cells may exist in that region.
