IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, several citizens, including children, were killed and others wounded due to the explosion of land mines of war remnants in the regions of Hama and Idlib, central and northwestern Syria.
Local sources told North Press that a land mine exploded in the agricultural lands near the village of Lahaya in Soran region, north of Hama, resulted in the killing of a person and wounding two others.
A land mine explosion in the village of al-Amiya in the al-Sa’an district, east of Hama, killed three children and seriously wounded their father, according to other sources.
The bodies of the children and the father were transferred to the public hospital of Salamiya city, 40 km away from the region, as there are not any medical centers in it.
Also, two citizens were wounded due to a land mine explosion in Khan Shaykhun city, south of Idlib, according to the sources.
On March 10, a man was killed in a land mine in the agricultural lands near the village of Jarniya, west of Hama.
On March 7, 18 civilians were killed and others wounded due to a land mine explosion while they were looking for truffles in the villages of Hadajah and Rasm Akhdar in the eastern countryside of Hama.
War remnants in the regions that witnessed military confrontations constitute a real danger to the lives of residents amid absence of awareness campaigns.
