War remnants affects a woman in Syria’s Hama

HAMA, Syria (north press) – On Wednesday, a woman was injured due to a landmine explosion of the remnants of war in the region of Athrya, east of Hama.

Local sources from the region told North Press that a landmine of remnants of war exploded near Athria, which resulted in the amputation of a woman’s leg and injuries of varying severity.

Residents in the area hospitalized the woman to the Salamiyah National Hospital, east of Hama, the sources added. 

The remnants of the war that took place during the past years between the Islamic State (ISIS) and the Syrian government forces, killed and wounded hundreds of civilians in the eastern countryside of Hama, according to activists.

On February 17, a civilian was killed of his wounds due to a landmine explosion left over from the war in Wadi al-Athib, northeast of the city of Salamiyah, east of Hama, and a woman was injured in a similar explosion east of Athrya.

On January 26, a civilian was killed in a landmine explosion of the remnants of war in an agricultural tractor near the city of Helfaya, north of Hama.

In July 2019, the United Nations warned that the lives of more than ten million of Syrians were threatened due to their presence in areas planted with mines and remnants of war.
