Clashes between two local groups in Syria’s Daraa caused casualties

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Clashes with heavy weapons took place on Sunday, in the town of Sayda in the eastern countryside of Daraa between two local groups, injuring militants.

The countryside of Daraa has been witnessing an increasing tension since the beginning of November including breaking in the town of eastern Karak and arresting people in addition to besieging Daraa Balad town by the government forces.

“Clashes took place on Sunday, in Sayda, between members of a group affiliated with the government Military Security Department and members of the Russian-backed Eighth Brigade,” a local source told North Press.   

The clashes took place in the central market in the town wounding ten members, most of them were of the Eighth Brigade, according to the source.  

The Eighth Brigade reinforced its existence west the town bringing dozens of military vehicles equipped with machine guns and medium and light weapons, the source added.  

The Fourth Division enhanced its existence on both northern and eastern entrances of Sayda town, according to the source.   

Members of a government checkpoint, west the town of Karak, arrested on Saturday, four men of the Eighth Brigade from the town of Keheil.  

The government forces took the men to the Air Force Intelligence Department in Daraa city, the source added.

The detention angered the Eighth Brigade members that was positioned in Busra al-Sham town.
