Turkey sends new military reinforcements to Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces sent on Thursday, further military reinforcements to the Syrian territories to strengthen their posts in the governorate of Idlib, northwestern Syria.   

Some 12,000 Turkish troops, as well as 9,000 Turkish military vehicles, are reported to be in areas under a ceasefire agreement between Moscow and Ankara.

A Turkish convoy consisted of 20 armoured vehicles including ammunition and logistical trucks in addition to prefabricated rooms entered to the Syrian territories, a source told North Press.

The reinforcement entered from Kafr Lossin crossing heading towards the Turkish posts in Zawiya Mountain south Idlib.

On November 21, the Turkish forces sent massive military reinforcements including 100 military vehicles towards its sites in Idlib. 

Moreover, the Turkish forces entered, accompanied with the Syrian armed opposition groups, to the town of Kansafra, near the Syrian government-held areas, according to a military source.

This took place in order to explore the area in preparation to establish a Turkish military post there, where the opposition posts in the town have been witnessing a constant shelling by the government forces, the source added.

The Russian-Turkish signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol in March 2020 provide to halt the military actions in the governorate of Idlib and its surroundings.
