Turkey sends massive military reinforcements to its bases in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkey sent on Saturday, several military convoys to the Syrian territories to reinforce its posts in Idlib, north west Syria.

This was the biggest batch of Turkish military reinforcements sent to the de-escalation zone, according to local activists.

This coincided with Turkish forces withdrawal from several military posts in Hama, Idlib, and Aleppo that have been besieged by the Syrian government since the beginning of 2020.

Those convoys included about 100 military armoured vehicles which carried ammunition, logistical materials and prefabricated rooms, in addition to 50 tanks, a local source told North Press.

The Turkish reinforcements entered through Kafr Lossin border crossing with Turkey, where some of them headed towards the Turkish posts on Zawiya Mountain near the frontlines with the Syrian government.

The source confirmed that the remaining batch of the reinforcements arrived in the Turkish military post near the town of Bennesh in the eastern countryside of Idlib.

Reports stated that there are about 65 Turkish posts, 12,000 Turkish soldiers, and 9,000 Turkish military vehicles in the area which is subjected to a ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Turkey.
