On Thursday, residents in the city of Kobani called on the Health Authority in the Euphrates region to accelerate work to sterilize the city's streets, just as the rest of the regions of the North and East Syria, in light of the quarantine imposed due to fears that the coronavirus will reach the area and spread among the population.
During the past two days, most areas of northeastern Syria witnessed a street sterilization campaign as a precautionary measure to prevent the coronavirus, which has spread to most countries of the world and has become a global threat.
Muhammad Hassan Rasho, a 49-year-old resident of Kobani, called for special attention to be paid to the main streets of the city to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, indicating that the Autonomous Administration has finished sterilizing all its institutions and directorates in the region.
On Wednesday evening, the People's Municipality of Kobani, in coordination with the Health Authority, began the street cleaning campaign, to continue until Friday. The sterilization campaign is set to begin on Saturday.
In turn, the official of the Environmental Department in the municipality of Tal Ghazal, Khunav Tami, explained that the campaign to sterilize schools and mosques in the countryside began last Tuesday, noting that the sterilization campaign the countryside will end today, Thursday.
The Health Authority in the Euphrates region, in coordination with the People's Municipality in Kobani and the General Administration of the Environment, began a sterilization campaign for Autonomous Administration institutions in Kobani on the 16th of this month to prevent the spread of the new corona virus.
Last Tuesday, the second day of the implementation of the ban on movement, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) tightened measures to prevent residents from roaming the neighborhoods of Kobani, where patrols spread out extensively within the city's neighborhoods and sub-streets.
Last Thursday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria declared a lockdown in all of its regions, starting on Monday morning, the 23rd of March, which will last for 15 days, as a precautionary measure against coronavirus.
