Full commitment to quarantine in Manbij amid street sterilization campaign

On Wednesday, in coordination with the Health Committee, the People’s Municipality in the city of Manbij in northeastern Aleppo continued the third day of the enforcement of the quarantine as well as a campaign to clean and sterilize the city's streets, as part of a series of precautionary measures to prevent coronavirus.

The city of Manbij is witnessing a "total commitment to the lockdown", as all stores and markets have been closed for the third consecutive day.

The sterilization campaign, which started in the early morning hours, included the western streets of the city of Manbij on Aleppo road, as a first step in preparation for the completion of sterilization of the rest of the streets.   

Sherine Mohammad, an official in the city’s Health Committee, told North-Press that on Tuesday, in cooperation with People's Municipality in Manbij, they started the second phase of sterilization, which includes the city's streets, noting that the materials used for sterilization are “chlorine, various antiseptic materials, and alcohol.”

It is expected that the sterilization campaign will include all the streets in the city, and according to Mohammad, "there has been no infection with coronavirus in Manbij so far.”   

On March 16th, the People's Municipality in the city started a sterilization campaign for committee centers and civil administration institutions.

In the same context, an official in the garage of People’s Municipality in Manbij said that five vehicles are being used in the sterilization campaign, in addition to many cleaning workers who work in two morning and evening shifts in order to complete sterilization as quickly as possible.
