Turkish military invasion delays the supply of more than 20,000 families in al-Shaddadi with fuel

The Hydrocarbons Committee, in coordination with the Department of Lines and the local council in the town of al-Shaddadi and its countryside (60 km south of Hasakah), began distributing fuel to the local people after it stopped distribution for a while due to the ongoing Turkish attacks on the areas of north and east of Syria.

The distribution process started from the most remote countryside of al-Shaddadi to its neighborhoods, where approximately 25,000 families were given a quantity of 400 liters per family, according to Mohammed Derwish, the administrator at al-Shaddadi Fuel Committee. Derwish said that the distribution process was carried out in coordination with the Local council and the Administration of the Lines, "to facilitate the delivery of fuel to the people properly and quickly, the distribution began from the more remote countryside of the town before winter season for easy movement between villages,” he said.

According to Derwish, about 20,000 families have not received fuel yet, asserting that it will be distributed to them before the new year. He noted that the distribution process was delayed due to the ongoing Turkish attacks on north-eastern Syria, saying: "The large oil burners present in the al-Jabsa oil field, east of the town stopped working during the Turkish attack on north-eastern Syria, which led to fuel shortages and delays in the distribution process.”

While Fahd Ali al-Khudair, a member of Fuel Distribution Committee, explained that the distribution targeted the eastern and western lines of al-Shaddadi, where 32 villages were supplied. He added: "Regarding the western line, fuel has been distributed to 12 villages, whenever fuel is completely delivered to the town’s countryside, then the town line will be targeted and fuel will be delivered to the people in general.”
