Gen. Mazloum Abdi: Washington and Moscow should put pressure on Turkey to respect the ceasefire

General Mazloum Abdi, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) commander –in- chief has said that Turkey continues to violate the ceasefire agreement which it has held with the United States, calling on Washington and Moscow to put stronger pressure on Ankara to respect the agreement.

Gen. Abdi said in a statement to al-Arabiya al-Hadath news channel, on Saturday, that the recent attack on the towns of Tal Tamr and Ein Issa is a living example. This attack was stopped due to heavy losses of their forces, and Turkey is expected to resume the attack because of its desire to expand its areas of control.

The SDF commander –in-chief said that the towns of Tal Tamr and Ein Issa will not be handed over to the regime or the Russians, saying: "They will remain under the control of the SDF."

Regarding the possibility of holding the ceasefire agreement, Gen. Abdi considered it difficult, because of the agendas of the President of Turkey, whose desire lies in occupying the entire region, which is a threat to the ceasefire agreement while we are working hard to maintain the agreement, to reach a permanent ceasefire.

Regarding the city of Raqqa, Gen. Mazloum Abdi, the SDF commander –in- chief said:, "Raqqa is under the control of the SDF, but our operations are continuing with the international coalition there against ISIS, and if necessary there could be Russian patrols, but currently the presence is limited to the SDF in Raqqa and al-Tabqa.
