Russian-Turkish understanding in West of the Euphrates

The Political Researcher Ahmed al-Remih told North-Press that there is an understanding between Russia and Turkey, for the Russians to be allowed to move militarily in the West of the Euphrates, in the so-called liberated areas, without a sharp Turkish objection to the strategic interests between Moscow and Ankara. Al-Remih pointed out that Russia will offer advantages to those interests that would benefit the Turkish President Erdogan inside Turkey in exchange for the silence over what is happening in the West of the Euphrates, in opposition-held territories.

He added that Russia takes the role of guarantor and observer of the Turkish military operation in northeastern Syria, which was based on a U.S.-Turkish understanding, with Russia being the supervisor of this understanding. Regarding the understanding between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government, al-Remih said that there is no way out except through understandings, and this is what Russia wants, noting that there is no room for manoeuvre in the current situation.

The political researcher concluded by saying: "So far, the SDF and the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) are at a very critical and dangerous stage for their future and the future of their project,” adding: "l think that the SDF made a big mistake when they did not implement the democratic project that they have talked about so much in the papers.”
