Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan sign joint defense pact
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia had signed a joint defense agreement stipulating that any attack against one of the three countries would be considered an attack against them all.
According to the ministry, the agreement aims to strengthen peace, security and stability in the region and beyond by expanding defense cooperation and security coordination among the three countries.
In the same context, Reuters quoted a Turkish official as saying that the agreement was not directed against any specific actor and it was open to other regional countries.
The Turkish Presidency also confirmed that any armed attack against Turkey, Saudi Arabia or Pakistan would be regarded as an attack on all three countries under the terms of the agreement.
The pact was signed during a meeting held in Riyadh, where officials discussed expanding defense cooperation and enhancing joint coordination among the three countries.
