Barzani, Mazloum Abdi discuss Syria visit, SDF integration deal
ERBIL, KRG (North Press) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani discussed his visit to Syria with the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), General Mazloum Abdi, during a phone call following Barzani’s meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa earlier on Monday, North Press learned.
According to information obtained by North Press, Barzani reaffirmed his support for the Jan. 29 agreement and described the implementation of the deal as progressing positively.
The phone call came after Barzani held several contacts with Abdi ahead of his official visit to the Presidential Palace in Damascus.
During their conversation, Barzani and Abdi stressed the positive impact that implementing the agreement on integrating the SDF and the Autonomous Administration into the Syrian government would have on the stability of Syria and the wider region.
The two sides also underscored the importance of continuing efforts to implement the agreement, which they said would contribute to strengthening security and political stability across the country.
