Bab al-Salama records over one million travelers in first half of 2026
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs announced on Monday that more than one million travelers crossed the Bab al-Salama border crossing with Turkey in both directions since the beginning of 2026.
The authority said a total of 1.04 million people used the crossing during the first half of the year, reflecting sustained cross-border movement.
It added that traffic at the crossing remained active during the period amid the continued flow of travelers and Syrians voluntarily returning to the country.
According to the authority, 63,000 Syrian citizens voluntarily returned to Syria through the crossing during the same period, describing the figures as an indication of the crossing’s activity and the efficiency of procedures regulating border traffic.
