Official says health integration in Syria’s Hasakah to improve services
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Health Directorate in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, continues efforts to complete the integration of health institutions across the governorate, a process expected to improve the quality of healthcare services and strengthen the sector’s stability, the director of Hasakah Health told North Press on Saturday.
Khaled al-Khaled, director of Hasakah Health, said the completion of the integration process would enhance administrative efficiency and ensure the continuity and quality of healthcare services provided to residents.
Al-Khaled said the review of healthcare personnel was carried out according to legal and administrative standards, including verification of official documents, academic qualifications, professional specialization, work experience and the actual staffing needs of health institutions. The process also included matching submitted information with official records.
He added that the review covered all employees who submitted their files, adding that workers were given the opportunity to complete missing documents or correct information in line with existing regulations.
According to al-Khaled, the directorate has finalized contracts with 1,448 healthcare workers who had previously worked under the Autonomous Administration, while procedures to complete contracts for the remaining employees are expected to continue in the coming days.
The director indicated that several key integration measures have already been completed, including unifying administrative oversight of hospitals and health centers and linking them to the organizational structure of the Syrian Ministry of Health. Authorities have also begun harmonizing administrative and financial systems to ensure that medical services continue without interruption.
Despite the progress, al-Khaled said the process still faces challenges related to the scale of the integration, the completion of administrative and financial procedures, the settlement of employment statuses and the need to rehabilitate infrastructure and provide additional resources to some health institutions.
He pointed out that work is continuing at an accelerated pace and in coordination with the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities to finalize the integration and contracting process in the near future.
Al-Khaled said completing the integration would contribute to stabilizing the healthcare workforce and improving the quality of medical care across Hasakah.
