Syrian Authorities seize large drug shipment in Latakia
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian anti-drug authorities in Latakia announced on Friday that they had foiled an attempt to distribute a large shipment of narcotics during a security operation that resulted in the arrest of two suspects.
In a statement, the Syrian Interior Ministry said the Anti-Drug Department arrested the suspects, identified by their initials as K.S. and A.A., following a surveillance and monitoring operation.
Authorities seized 100 kilograms of hashish, 100,000 Captagon pills, and 5,000 pharmaceutical pills, all of which were allegedly prepared for distribution.
The ministry added that all seized materials had been confiscated, while investigations are ongoing to identify accomplices and other individuals involved before referring the suspects to the competent judiciary for legal proceedings.
