UNDOF patrols areas following Israeli incursions in southern Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) conducted patrols on Monday in areas of western Daraa that Israeli forces entered earlier on Monday and Sunday in the Yarmouk Basin.
Israeli forces have continued carrying out incursions into southern Syria, in what Syrian authorities regard as violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. The operations have become increasingly frequent, with some involving arrests.
Local sources told North Press that a convoy of UNDOF vehicles passed through the town of Abidin in western Daraa before heading toward locations where Israeli forces had advanced in the Yarmouk Basin. The patrols are part of the peacekeeping mission’s routine inspections following such incursions.
The sources said UNDOF vehicles were also seen moving through Abidin and nearby villages in the Yarmouk Basin as part of their regular monitoring activities.
According to the sources, the repeated UNDOF patrols have so far produced no tangible improvements for local residents, who continue to face the consequences of the recurring Israeli incursions and the absence of lasting measures to ensure security and stability in the area.
