Turkey’s exports to Syria reach $1.28 billion in first half of 2026
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Turkey’s exports to Syria rose 26.4 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2026, reaching $1.284 billion, according to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), reported by Anadolu Agency on Sunday.
Turkey exported 3.18 million tons of products to Syria between January and June, marking a 36.6 percent increase in volume compared with the same period in 2025.
Milling products led Turkish exports to Syria with a value of $103.9 million, followed by cement at $102.3 million and electricity and energy products at $80.1 million.
The southeastern Anatolia region accounted for $461.8 million of Turkey’s total exports to Syria. Its exports increased 11.4 percent in value and 34.6 percent in volume year-on-year.
Celal Kadioglu, a board member of TIM and head of its Syria office, said exports to the Syrian market increased by about 70 percent in 2025 and that the upward trend has continued into 2026.
He added that the integration of Syria’s banking system into the international financial system, improved security conditions, and preparations to operate the Öncüpınar/Bab al-Salama and Nusaybin-Qamishli border crossings at full capacity could help boost trade between the two countries.
Kadioglu indicated that positive steps taken by the leaderships of Turkey and Syria were strengthening shared goals for the future of bilateral relations.
The figures come as economic ties between Turkey and Syria continue to expand following political changes in Syria and efforts to restore cross-border trade and economic activity.
