QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Three children were injured on Sunday after a cluster munition left behind from the war exploded in the village of al-Saloumiya in the al-Qusayr area of southwestern countryside Homs, according to local residents.
Residents told North Press that the children sustained varying injuries when the unexploded cluster munition detonated. They were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment following the explosion.
Unexploded ordnance, including landmines and explosive remnants of war, continues to claim the lives of dozens of Syrians every month, particularly children. Such incidents are frequent in areas across Syria that previously witnessed military operations and armed confrontations.
