Syrian border guards seize over 700,000 Captagon pills
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian border guard units have foiled several attempts to smuggle narcotics from Lebanon into Syria, seizing more than 700,000 Captagon pills and over 40 kilograms of hashish during operations in the countryside of Homs and Damascus, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday.
According to the ministry’s Media and Communication Department, the operations were carried out by border guard units over the recent period and resulted in the confiscation of the narcotics, which have been referred to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
The ministry said the seizures included approximately 700,000 Captagon pills in addition to more than 40 kilograms of hashish intercepted during the operations.
The announcement follows a separate operation by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, in coordination with the Internal Security Command in Damascuscountryside, which thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotics from Lebanon toward the Nabk Farms area after surveillance and security monitoring.
